The university is classified among "R1: doctoral universities – very high research activity".
The Wang Research lab (https://www.wangresearchlab.com) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and the Institute of Materials Science (IMS) at the University of Connecticut (UConn) has two Ph.D. positions and one postdoc position with details described below.
Ph.D. positions
Research: research topics include (1) mechanics of advanced materials (candidates with modeling experience is preferred), (2) design and fabrication of flexible electronics and architectures, and (3) soft materials and intelligent systems. our research is highly multidisciplinary and lies at the intersection of mechanics, materials, electronics and chemistry. students who are interested in any of those related areas are welcome to apply.
Qualifications:
a bachelor's degree in engineering mechanics, materials science, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related area
a M.S. degree with project experience and publications is preferred but not required
Start date: available for fall 2021.
Postdoc position
Research: candidates with experiences in mechanics modeling (e.g. finite element modeling), flexible electronic sensors or microfabrication are preferred.
Start date: available immediately, open until filled.
If you are interested in the Ph.D. or postdoc position, please send your cv and trans to dr. Xueju Wang at xueju.wang@uconn.edu.
